Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (KotOR) Review

CAUTION: SEMI-SPOILER ALERT!

Obviously the best game I've ever played. KotOR relied on awesome features, which I like, but adventure RPD games like Star Fox Adventures, Grand Theft Auto, etc. have the BEST storylines in the videogame universe. KotOR made history. This game wasn't a "Oh, I'll play through this and use cheats until I finish it and tell all my friends that I ONLY beat the game." No. It is a game I play over and over again and again. After our 5th time completing it, my sister and I kept tally on how many times we each have played and finished the game. Right now, we're up to 28th combined. I'm almost finished with my 15th and she's beginning her 15th too. That's the best thing about KotOR: it's not just a guy's game. It's anyone's kind of game. The adventure of being yourself offers to choose your gender, kind of soldier (Scout, Scoundrel, or Soldier) for the Republic, kind of Jedi (Guardian, Consular, or Sentinel), and most importantly your actions and affliliations that each lead to the Dark or Light side. In the cannon version that I use is the uber-fanboy lightside male version. Ocasionally, for fun, my brother and I use the "totally Dark Side" endings.

Onto the game begining, the game starts with you waking up on a republic hammerhead cruiser, the Endar Spire, which has been ambushed by a Sith cruiser, the Laviathan. This takes place above the Coruscant-rival planet of Taris. When you wake up, a Republic soldier named Trask Ulgo finds you and tells you to get your crap and get to the escape pods. While you make your short-but-seems-to-be-long journey to the starboard section of the ship, you encounter Sith troopers that have matching silverish-white armor. Ironically, whenever you see a soldier or jedi on your side the game cuts to a scene where he/she dies. Finally, you and your friend find a Dark Jedi. Trask sacrifices himself to fight the Jedi. Obviously he dies, but you make your way to the escape pods to find a soldier named Carth Onasi.
You crash at the surface of Taris. It's a long story, but along the way you gain party members (person who helps and follows you) including an awesome street smart Twi'lek girl, wookie friend, utility droid (like R2-D2), ex-Mandalorian, and Jedi. You also sneak kill a rancor, but that's a small part. I'm not gonna get too into detail because it's one of those boring 1st levels that are cool when you unlock something new.
Anyway, the Sith begin to bomb the planet. That's right-BOMB the planet. You steal a ship called the Ebon Hawk which is THE fastest ship in the game. You escape and go to Dantooine.
On Dantooine there is a secret Jedi Enclave. Bastila, the Jedi you rescue on Taris, shares a dream with you. It's wierd how this happens. She says you are Force Sensitive. You can use the force. You are then accepted into the Academy and are taught how to be a jedi. You are given tests to memorize the Jedi code and persuade a dark jedi to come back to the light side.
TIP: There is a woman named Juhani who tries to kill you. You wound her a little bit. Then you engage conversation with her. DO NOT KILL HER! IF YOU LET HER LIVE AND PERSUADE HER TO GO BACK TO THE JEDI SHE CAN JOIN YOUR PARTY AS A JEDI!!!!!
So you then go a ruins with Bastila to find an ancient artifact. The artifiact you find is a Star Map. The Star Map says there are others on Tatooine, Kashyyyk, Manaan, and Koribaan. Apparently, Revan and Malak (Malak is the man who bombed Taris and Revan is his master who Malak betrayed and killed) visited this tomb and used all the other maps to get to the Star Forge, a factory that makes Sith weapons and ships. You accept a mission from the Jedi to visit these worlds, find the Star Maps, and find the Star Forge. It's your choice: defeat the Sith, or become the new Dark Lord of the Sith.

All in all, I HIGHLY recommend this game.

Introduction to Star Wars Rant and Blog

Hello, I am ColtCrazy2015 (aka Crazy Colt). I am a GIGANTIC Star Wars fan. My favorite era is the Old Republic Era. I love the history of Revan. Here I will post my reviews on Star Wars games and do my rant on my theories that have to do with any unexplained parts in Star Wars. If I post any theories or reviews I would like to see your side of them. Please comment frequently or ask any questions that you wish to have answered.
